Mountain Village : For The Record

Mountain Village sits high above the historic town of Telluride and encompasses approximately 2,100 acres of rolling aspen-and-spruce-covered mountainside. Incorporated as a home-rule municipality in 1995, Mountain Village is governed by three entities: Town Council, Owners Association and Metro District. As a home-rule municipality, an elected town council provides general governmental services including planning and zoning, design review and building inspection services, public safety and law enforcement, as well as a municipal court. Council members are elected by residents, and unique to Mountain Village, non-residents who own at least 50 percent interest in Mountain Village real estate property are allowed to participate in council elections.

FREE PUBLIC GONDOLA
The Gondola, which links Telluride and Mountain Village, operates daily from 7 to 12 a.m. during the winter and summer seasons. The Gondola is funded by Mountain Village Metro District with a contribution totaling one percent of lift ticket sales from the Telluride Ski & Golf Company. The Metro District Board oversees operations and management of the Gondola.
DESIGN REVIEW BOARD (DRB)
Mountain Village takes pride in its magnificent alpine setting and strives to enhance the region’s natural beauty with harmonious design. The DRB exists to preserve an attractive and functional community, while providing a clear and efficient design review process. DRB also serves as the Planning and Zoning Commission for the town.
