Everyone has a story, this is ours...Bush & Associates, Inc., publishers of TellurideStyle Magazine, started in a log cabin while caretaking a 900-acre ranch at the base of Mount Wilson in Telluride in 1986. Between breaking the ice for the horses and fueling the old Majestic stove that provided us with warmth, Jeffrey Bush and I, Kathleen, mustered-up projects to get us through the two-month long off-seasons. On Mac’s first computer, we designed brochures, logos, wrote copy, and did whatever else fell in line with the advertising/journalism degrees; we obtained at University of Wyoming at Laramie, which is where we met. As bona fide green-horns in publishing, we worked with Pocket Guide (PG) Publications for a stint and ski instructed, too. Jeff was the sales director of PG’s 16 national publications, while I was the editor and publications manager. For many years our earnings were in the four-digits, just pushing five. Yet, we loved every minute of it; especially our off-hours, which were filled with all-day mountain bike rides, hikes, playing cards or reading, as we didn’t have a TV for nine years. Back then we skied upwards of 100 days each winter. It’s not the money, as we all know; it’s the rolling up your sleeves or pointing those skis and going after it with all you’ve got... that’s where it’s at. It’s the thrill of the chance and don’t stop ‘til you get there attitude that enthralled us about Telluride and, frankly, spurred the conception of TellurideStyle Magazine—now one of the largest publications in the Southwest as well as the most award-winning.

In the spirit of going after it is how TellurideStyle Magazine was dreamed up over a decade ago. Loving the rugged, open space of the San Juans and the genuinely good-hearted people that share our devotion for the out-of-doors and thrive on maintaining healthy lifestyles is certainly another signature trait of TellurideStyle. Mostly, however, TellurideStyle’s 10-year reign is about the people—their stories, their lives and the traditions they’ve created in this incredibly unique town. Individuality flourishes here and we’ve tried whole-heartedly to bottle it and pour it onto the pages of TellurideStyle for this and the last 20 editions.
