Dunton Hot Springs
Click Here For Photos Talk about rediscovery. Dunton Hot Springs (less than an hour from
Telluride), with its natural springs, bath house, outback, but
luxurious setting, was truly a perfect pick for our anniversary this
weekend (14 years married and 21 years together). We arrived Thursday
afternoon to be greeted by Tyson, Clare, "Hos," Keith and Doug (the
chef) and right away began to enjoy the afternoon in the historic bar
and lodge with a Munich lager and a margarita. Dinner for all guests
(whether two or twenty) is enjoyed together, family-style. Doug
prepared a wonderful salmon dish with king prawns and scallops. Every
meal that followed was just as delicious. Afterward, Kathleen and I
made our way to the bath house for a long soak before heading to the
"Forge," our hand-hewed cabin, for the night. Friday morning we headed
up to Winter Trail for a great hike and then some afternoon relaxing,
reading, chatting, etc. Other guests headed out for some fly-fishing
lessons. After dinner some of the guests enjoyed a few games of pool
while I had to rechallenge my wife in a game of chess. This morning I
made my way back to the hot springs while Kathleen enjoyed a little bit
more sleep. Now its off to breakfast and another great meal! Check it
